Jesse Nathan’s debut collection of poems, Eggtooth, won the 2024 New Writers Award. His poems have been published in The Paris Review, the New York Review of Books, the Kenyon Review, the New Republic, and elsewhere. He writes essays for the New York Times and the Threepenny Review, and he teaches literature at UC Berkeley and lives now in Oakland. Nathan is also a founding editor of the McSweeney’s Poetry Series. He grew up in northern California and rural Kansas, on a wheat farm, and did his undergraduate work at Bethel College, a small liberal arts school in Kansas.

 

Derek Mong is the author of three poetry collections from Saturnalia Books—Other RomesThe Identity Thief, and When the Earth Flies into the Sun. Individual poems, essays, and translations have appeared widely: the LA Times, the Boston Globe, the Kenyon ReviewBlackbirdFree InquiryPleiadesVerse Daily, and the New England Review. He and his wife, Anne O. Fisher, received the Cliff Becker Translation Award for The Joyous Science: Selected Poems of Maxim Amelin (White Pine Press). They also co-edit the literary journal At Length. Derek teaches at Wabash College and serves as a contributing editor for Zocalo Public Square.
