 ogies.\n\nShe has been awarded the Thomas and Lillie D. Chaffin Award\, th
 e Michael Steinberg Memorial Essay Prize\, the Gulf Coast  Prize in Nonfic
 tion\, the Milton Fellowship\, and a Mid Atlantic Arts  Foundation Fellows
 hip. Jessie holds an MFA in nonfiction from the University of Iowa and tea
