Megan Kelly ’18 will showcase her senior vocal recital on Saturday, February 17, at 3:15 p.m. in Ford Memorial Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.
Kelly has been studying choral music for eight years and in college has been a member of various Allegheny choirs each semester. She has studied vocal performance primarily under Carol Niblock, and has been taking lessons with her for seven semesters.
Kelly will perform a variety of music, including “Sebben Crudele” by Antonio Caldara, two of the songs in the cycle from “Frauen-Liebe und Leben” by Robert Schumann, and “Va, L’error Mio Palesa” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. She also will showcase “What Can We Poor Females Do?,” a duet that she will perform with Abigail Johnson, a junior at Allegheny.
“One piece that I’m very excited about is ‘Cara Sposa’,” Kelly says. “It’s an aria from the opera ‘Rinaldo’ by Handel. It’s a very complex piece, probably one of the hardest pieces on my recital, so I spent a lot of time working on it. Seeing it come to fruition I’m feeling really positive about it, I’m proud of the work I’ve done and I’m excited to share it with people.”
