Race, Equity, and Justice Lecture Series: Dr. Laura Emiko Soltis & Rafael Aragón

Dr. Laura Emiko Soltis serves as the Executive Director at Freedom University, an underground school for undocumented students in Atlanta. Emiko also serves as the Professor of Human Rights, teaching classes in international human rights, social movement theory, and immigration history. 

 

Rafael Aragón is a graduate of Freedom University and is originally from Sinaloa, México. Rafael is a respected youth leader in Atlanta and is currently a senior at Oglethorpe University, where he is studying psychology. 

 

The Race, Equity, and Justice Lecture Series is a platform for scholars and justice workers of color to share their research and expertise in the pursuit of access, inclusion, and equity for all. 

 

Each year, the series will honor Allegheny alumni of color. This year, the series will honor Carmen Ellington, a member of the Allegheny College Class of 1986.
