Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week

Monday, January 21

Allegheny College will host a series of events celebrating the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., during the week of Jan. 21, 2019. The theme of this year’s celebration is “We Belong Here,” and the week’s keynote speaker is Mayor Marita Garrett of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania.

Mayor Garrett also is Partner/Lead Outreach Consultant of ADMINTRINSIC and Founder and President of Civically, Inc., a non-profit community outreach organization. She has been recognized as the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater PA Chapter’s Community Outreach Volunteer of the Year and named a Rising African American Leader by the African American Alumni Council at the University of Pittsburgh. Twice, she has been honored with a 40 Under 40 Award by Pittsburgh Magazine and New Pittsburgh Courier, respectively.
