Allegheny College graduate and author Mike McClelland '07 will read from "Gay Zoo Day," his prize-winning collection of short stories, as part of the October LGBT+ history programming. The reading will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.
This event is open to all members of the Allegheny College and Meadville community who support Allegheny College's community-building goal to create an inclusive, respectful, and safe residential learning community that will actively confront and challenge racism, sexism, heterosexism, religious bigotry, and other forms of harassment and discrimination.
This event is co-sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, the Department of Communication Arts & Theater, the IDEAS Center, and the Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies Program.
Mike McClelland holds a B.A. in English from Allegheny College ('07), an M.Sc. from The London School of Economics, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Fiction) from Georgia College. He was selected as Fellow at the global multinational advertising and PR company WPP, and worked as a Senior Digital Strategist at the multinational advertising + branding firm Ogilvy. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in English/Creative Writing at the University of Georgia. "Gay Zoo Day" (Beautiful Dreamer Press, 2017), won the Independent Book Publishers Association's Silver Benjamin Franklin Award for LGBT Literature.
